All In His Name is the Exodus-affiliated ex-gay ministry of New Life Assembly in Buffalo, New York. Unlike most ex-gay ministries that use reparative therapy or other psychology-based methodologies, All In His Name uses a Bible-based approach that emphasizes the process of conforming to the image of Christ that the Bible calls sanctification. We believe that a Bible-based approach offers the best hope for the homosexual seeking healing of his or her same-sex attraction and victory over homosexual sin. While one might think the goal of any ex-gay ministry is merely to help the homosexual change from having exclusively same-sex attraction to having exclusively opposite-sex attraction, the real goal is (and must be) more than this: complete healing that restores the person to what God created humans to be: men or women who bear the image of their Creator, the Lord Jesus Christ. Real healing doesn’t consist of changing from lusting after one’s own sex to lusting after the opposite sex: it consists of becoming the men and women God created us to be. This involves both conforming to the image of Christ and gaining and maintaining victory over homosexual sin.

Same-sex attraction is narrowly defined as the physiological and emotional response one has when finding someone “attractive,” the object of which is someone of one’s own sex. Homosexual sin is embracing that attraction and acting on it through adopting a homosexual “identity,” engaging in homosexual thoughts and behaviors, and living a homosexual lifestyle (a lifestyle that revolves around one‘s homosexuality).

While same-sex attraction is not itself sin, it is contrary to God’s created design and, thus, is something to be healed. God didn’t create anyone to be homosexual and one is not born with same-sex attraction. Rather, it is a disorder that develops in childhood. Most ex-gay ministries focus on correcting the childhood causes of same-sex attraction while All In His Name believes that these will be healed as one progresses in the sanctification process of conforming to the image of Christ. All In His Name focuses on helping the homosexual to gain and maintain victory over homosexual sin and to embrace the believer’s identity as a child of God so that the homosexual can say, as the former homosexuals in Corinth did, “Such WERE some of you” (1 Corinthians 6:11 NASB, emphasis added).
